EARTH HOUR will be kicked off on this Mar. 31st. Hot propaganda will attract large number of environmentalists to take part in. We don’t want to discourage, but we’d like to have a good calculation. To see how much power will be saved by turning off the lights.
For one 40W energy-saving tube instance, turn it off one hour that can save 40W. If 7 billion people in the world all switch off the lights one hour that can save 280 million kilowatt-hours. But don’t you think that? In this hour, people have to use candle for lighting to make more CO2 or people will play with computers to waste more power, unless we just close our eyes to meditation.

In fact, how much power can be saved and how much carbon can be reduced to this EARTH HOUR? Specific to everyone, maybe it is positive maybe negative, not the same. For energy-saving, not just to tie up with the activity or this one hour each year, the dim of lights just is a symbolic meaning. Actually, we have another simple way to protect our earth----- replaced lighting.
One 18W LED tube like a 40W energy-saving light, which means LED can save 22W than tradition lights. One person can save 56kwh in a year. There are 7 billion people in the world, that means 392 billion kilowatt-hours power can be saved. 392 billion kilowatt-hours power equivalent to the whole energy of 130 large-scale thermal power stations.
Thermal power plant is power generation station by burning coal, oil, gas, which is still widely used in the global. In the process, burning will make lots of dust and harmful gases to the sky which is seriously threaten the air quality and our health.

A large-scale thermal power plant can generate about 3 billion kilowatt-hours. Now we just need to move our fingers, which can reduce hundreds and thousands of this high pollution power generation plant.

That is the power of one light and one watt, which needs our cooperation to complete it. Protecting our earth, please start from trivial.

Definitely, as an environmentalist we support the “earth hour” of WWF, but we hope to do more. Astral is on the list, and enclose our certificate to share with you: About us - Astral
