If not keeping SPS is 50x too much turnover for soft corals? I have to plan out which pumps I want to buy and right now I have a return pump and a Hydor 425. Thanks!

It's always easier to work with "too much" flow than "not enough".

I have soft corals in a tank with over 100 turnovers/hour. It's all about placement. Just as long as they are not in direct, strong flow - they should do OK.

Also, some soft corals like more flow than others, for example, GSP do well in high and low flow situations so it will depend on the coral.

But as a blanket statement, no, I would say that 50X is NOT overboard.

+1 placement is everything. And it may take a while to get it right just keep trying

Plus the corals will take time to get used to different flows. Some will act real upset when their external elements change but they will be able to cope with time. But as ocean man said research what each individual coral prefers and make changes to suit. I would also say 50x is ok if done correctly. Try not to blast anyone too hard and the flow will be helpfull.
