I've lost a clown and a yellow tailed blue damsel. The water looks like this.
    ph - 8.4
    NH3- 0ppm
    n03 - 0ppm
    n02 - 0ppm
    Ca2- 500
    P03 - 0ppm
temp is 76 and gravity is 0.20.

are you sure your gravity is at 0.20 rather than 0.020? Im pretty sure it was a typo but have some water with your salt haha

How old is the tank? What type of water did you use to make the saltwater? Have you used any treatments for the water? Copper? I do hope you mean that your SG is 1.020.

What else do you have in the tank with this damsel in distress? Well, dead damsel.

Yeah, its 1.020. Well, the damsel was gotten from Petco so hopefully that has something to do with it. The tank has been set up for a little over a month now, I've got some hermits that are doing fine and a Ricordea that has gotten bigger. I'm really just hoping the damsel was messed up. Last night it was hiding in the rocks. The clown died overnight but I'd had the clown for a little over a 2 weeks. I also have two hermit crabs, and an Atlantic Anemone. I know its probably too soon to have one but its looking great. No treatment. And a few nights ago it looked like the damsel has ich, but then I didn't see anything on it. And no, I didn't use any medication.

For a tank being only a month old, be prepared to pull the anemone out soon. They are EXTREMELY sensitive creatures and should only be attemtped by advanced aquarists. Tanks should be at least a year old and fully matured to be kept in a system, the water chemistry and parameters need to be rock solid for them to survive. Anemones can look ok, but actually be dying from the inside out. They need very strong light to survive as well. If you got a damsel that was ill with any type of disease, that can get transferred in the water to the other fish.

Whats your alkilinity and what type of water do you use? What do you use to test specific gravity?

I hope you took good measure in making sure that the test solution or equipment did not touch your water. That stuff is toxic to your fish.

SG should be 1.025. 1.020 is low.

Thats another question I have, with the SG when I move the sand around it goes up by about five points which is confusing me, and the reason why I didn't add more salt. And I need to get a separate alkalinity test, I bought both API test kits and neither have it. And no, none of it got into the water. I take it out separately. And its just water from the tap, I don't have R.O. For the gravity I use Coralife's hydrometer and I have PC, 10k and Actinic, 130W for 20 gallons.
