    That story, while I'm sure it's true, is WHACK!

    I agree that you shouldn't be building anything else in what sounds like a condo building.

    Did you also say you're paying 143,000 for this new system?

    WHY?

    No no, no the 143 000 was the damages for 3 condos when the flooding accured . I was unable to pay and i was forbiden to have a tank for years. now this system is much bigger but the floor is not strong enough to support it. I've hired a civil engineer to evaluated the floor thuesday, he's drilling the ciment slab to see where are the beams and if we can spread the load. the floor can support 3200lb we need 4200lb. with a skid beam we could do it he says, we have to find out what angle are the counter beam apparently or something of that nature. At $150 /hour that little detour is costly, about $ 700 for that day. Its the only way i can have my system. And it has to be done while the ciment is showing, i'm having my floors redone in terracotta tiles from Italie. Actualy i'm doing them myself a nice little project, but as you would have it everthings on hold. For that.

    So it was like 5 years on the last one right?

    You couldn't pay then (your insurance wouldn't pay?), and now you're going bigger, and maxing out your floors capacity, etc.?

    My friend, I'm very Pro- DT etc., but this is pushing the envelope a bit don't you think?
    Can't you move to a more suitable foundation?

    How many gallons we talking again anyways? 4200lbs? divided by 8 (roughly the weight of a gallon of water) That's over 500g?

    PS, you still have the same neighbors?
    What will they think about your new system? Maybe they'll come by and lend a hand, or maybe bring a court order to stop you.

    And $700 dollars for a professional to tell you it's not gonna hold up well?

    So the calculation goes;

    140g=541.606kg =1191.53 lb( salt water density at 77oF) +tank 1/2" rimless
    120g=464.233kg=1021.31 lb ( salt water density at 77oF)+tank 1/2" rimless
    45g=174.087kg=382lb ( salt water density at 77oF)+tank
    + 280lb reinforced Steel stand
    + 390 lb live rock
    + 250 lb live sand
    + 50 lb Mud for biotope
    + 100 equipments

    The latest WOW

    AS THE FISH SWIM soap opera.....The latest; the Condo Co-op needs a confirmation that the carrot taken from the cement floor wont weaken the structure so the civil engineer needs the structure plans from the city who transferred THE plans to the archives, not sure if its the city fire department archive or the regular archives they have to search the digital microfilms takes a week.......i'm just waiting for a call from NASA now::):stars::loco::party-smi:sick::dizzy2::anxious::deal2::bomb::freak3: By the way my Guy who is designing the tank also an engineer, is going on vacation for 12 days as of now while i'm waiting.

    Got it all

    Got it all ; letters and confirmation the floor is 8" thick and good enough to receive are tanks in an "L" shape to spread the load and everything has been accepted , tomorrow we should get the final prices for the tanks.

    Thanks also got my shipment of ceramic panels from Germany.

    Finaly here after 2 months.I got my Ceramic panels. Ok i only unpacked one the rest are in bubble wrap and i don't want to unwrap them so not to damage them. Here what it look with stuff in it to give scale , i know it looks funny but it gives an appreciation of whats possible with those things. And i got them for $ 2.99 /lb instead of $ 17.99 /lb from Germany. Most of the time we only see the panels but we have no idea how they relate to are tank scale thats why i've put familiar items so you can juge better of the size of the pockets and crevasses. Awsome for frags and small corals at different levels.

    They will fit on back wall that i wont have to clean up and most of all reduce the footprint of my rockwork in the tank and giving me lots of swimming and grazing room for my fish ; its a win win. I still will have to put some rocks but not as much and i'll wont have to do any special aquascaping this time. These panels are perfect they give plenty of levels to put corals at any heights i desires.

    The back of these panels are totally flat. Which bring me to the fitting. Since i don't want any dead spots and accumulation of debrit; even in small quantity; i'll silicone seal these completely on the back and foam the sides to ensure no water goes in the back and imprison any small amount of debris that i can't get at. I don't intend to redoo my tank in 4 or 5 years, and the day i want to redoo it i'll have a job anyway in front of me regardless.
