    Hey have two questions:

#1 is it safe if i got those large rubber yellow gloves so when i put my arms in the aquarium they don't get wet? For Reef Salt water and Fresh

#2 does the chemical prime go bad? My fresh water tank smells very (farty) and only changes i have done is change filter and change water with prime.

    Thanks.

I dont know a whole lot about freshwater...but how are your levels...sounds like you are going into a cycle. I know when I had my goldfish tank they reaked to high heaven and I tested it and ammonia was through the roof.

How long has your tank been set up? I dont know about Prime going bad but it does have a smell to it normally but I have never noted it in my tank..but again only have SW now

I dont see any problems with using the gloves as long as they dont have any checmicals on them.

how much water did you change and did you change filter all together or just the cartridge?

For the filter i just changed the cartridge. The tank has been up for 1 year now. Maybe i need to clean the poop out of the rocks a little better and when i did it maybe i mixed it all up. I changed 5 gallons out of a 30 Gallon tank.

for the gloves, that's the only thing im not sure if they have chemicals from the rubber or anything.

I agree with the gloves no chem they should be fine. Do you have saltwater? If so is there live rock if you got uncured live rock as it cures will smell really bad. That my best guest.

They do make gloves that are aquarium safe that won't leach powders into the water. As long as your gloves don't have chemicals, it should be safe.
As for Prime, or any other nitrying bacteria supplement, most have a sulfurous smell, it is normal. Some supplements do go bad and have expiration dates on them. Check and see if your's has one. My "Cycle" did, but my "Prime" did not.
