    LOL!!

That's like saying you can still weigh a hot air balloon when it's aloft. When a fish fills its swim bladder with air, it, too, becomes weightless in water.

The hot air baloon sit weighs the same in the air as not. it is just lifted by the hot air, same principle for the fish.

look gravity is different with saltwater water and fresh water right so if you put a fish in a saltwater tank wouldn't it weight different then in a freshwater tank?

Yeah the rocks & hot air balloon are not good examples. This is different. Yes, the fish is 10 lbs. yes, "10 lbs is 10lbs". But are all those full 10 lbs of weight being applied to the tank, then the stand, then the floor? I don't think so...

Wouldn't the buoyancy of the fish(due to the swim bladder), in a way, make the fish weigh less? OK, the fish still weighs the same. But in the water, not all 10 lbs are being applied to the additional weight of the tank...as the fish is not a rock, it is not sand, it is not water. It is not sitting directly on/in the tank. It is floating in the water.

The fresh & salt water wouldn't make a difference. 500lb fresh water is the same & 500 lbs salt. There'd the need to be more fresh water to make up for it.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Are you speaking of the displacement of water and boyancy.

The weight of the fish is not going to change if it is in SW, FW, or pancake syrup.

The weight of a fish in not going to really play a part in the overall weight of the system, water is so much heavier. A gallon of water weights approx 8.5 lbs.

    ;D

Then does the salt weigh less because it's "floating" in the water?

I think I heard a tree scream in the woods.

...and how would the fish not displace "any" water?
