The first picture does definitely look like a mantis shrimp; did it come in your LR? When I first started my 29g and it was cycling I had one hitchhike on some LR. I was told to get rid of it simply because they can be harmful to other species in the tank, not to mention they can break plastic. I've heard they can potentially break glass also (although I'm not entirely sure how true that is.)

Not only that, they'll kill additions to the tank later.

was trying to trap it with a DIY trap i made but didint help so far. I would love to subject my rock to high salinity but im afraid i kill my zoas (the rock it lives in is HUGE also. I guess i have some work ahead of me.

I also noticed a green shrimp that is 4 times the size of this mantis, im not sure if this is also a mantis but right now he is priority for removal. He also lives in the same chunk of Rock

Don't worry about the mantis. I've kept mantis and fish together for years.

Schackmel also keeps fish with her mantis. When her fish gets startled, it swims into her mantis' den for protection. Bob, her 6 inch long peacock mantis gets upset and shoos it out.

Yeah when i started my 29 biocube, i had a mantis hitchhike on some LR. He was very small and i thought it was a beneficial crustacean. A month later he was about an inch in length and very, very green. I heard clicking ALL the time. I bought a flame hawkfish and never heard him again. ALthough i keep my flamer in a reef tank, she doesnt eat any inverts that ive purchased.
