All my red algae in the main tank went away in about week!!!!;D Will this stuff deduce nitrates mine are about 40 ppm Just as before I bought skimmer and built sump/fug$$$ still 40ppm:confused: One thing I have found out money does not remove nitrates:eek:

I'm not sure what kind of algae this is. I wouldn't worry about it too much as any algae will remove nitrates. I've heard some algae can spread to a main tank. As far as you nitrate problem I would do some large frequent water changes to get your nitrate down. Once they are down you algae should be able to control it.

Here is a link to a site I found. I haven't explored the site much, it looks kind of hard to navigate if you don't know what your looking for.

    This site may be better

I guess it could be Caulerpa Prolifera. It hard to tell from you picture

What you have there is a type of Caulerpa. I have some in my fuge and its a very prolific grower.

It looks like Caulerpa brachypus Harvey to me.

Chances are, those bio balls aren't helping your nitrate issue either. You might consider ditching those a bit at a time and see if it helps.
