The whole idea that there could just be a certain ratio is absurd. It depends on the size of each fish, the swimming room they need, their temperament, as well as the bio-load created by each fish.

    OP is already quite overstocked.

you use the MAX size of the fish, not the current size...

I dont use this as a basis, but if one does consider it, use the max size of the fish, and 1" per 4 gallons, NOT the current size

So a 12" fully grown blue tang will be comfortable in a 48g?

I don't think he uses this or agrees. Just simply stating that if someone was to use this theory (which is obviously wrong for saltwater) that they should go off of the fully grown size of the fish, not the current size.

Not trying to be a @#%! But that rule needs to get thrown out the window. Its not even close to being accurate.

Agreed--most tangs need at least 75, but probably 90 is even better. I'd say your tank is maxed.

youve made your point, and I've also said I didnt agree with it, and in fact I agree with you, and I also havent said that the 1 per 4 rule makes the fish "comfortable" like you stated. Its just a general rule that people use, but other things have to be factored into the equation as well. I was just stating that if someone is going to use it, then the general rule is 1 per 4, not 1 per 2, but no where have I advised people to use this
