Considering how many fishing boats I saw last time I went up the coast I'm not surprised. I guess everyone needs to share the blame and responsibility. :-/

Depends on the fish in question. I can cite many cases where it was cleary commercial interests that are doing the damage. Now billfish, bonefish, and the likes are cleary anglers doing. Salmon, neither, habitat loss. Pacific coast rockfish, commercial all the way. Anglers around here have contributed VERY little to the decline in standing fish stocks in our area. Commercials have cleary done our stock in. The US government gave grants to (that country next to Vietnam, sounds like louse, but spelled different) refugies in the 70's and 80's to start long line operations off our coast. Those ships with 2 miles of hooks have wiped out our rockfish like no ones business. Thank god they got shut down. The anglers limits on rockfish are pretty severe now, they won't be allowed to do any damage.

Didn't read the article though ;) I have no faith in fisheries biologists, so what ever they said means very little to me.
