LOL yes you will hear all kinds of B/S about everything with a marine system U/V never caused any harm to anything at all , Form my experiences or anyones who's opinion I would give any credence to . None at all Just some more reading repeater crap you'll always be exposed to. I would say a U/V is totally worthless .
Let me explain why I say this the new bulbs go in and they will kill many and sterilize many bad elements in the water that past through the light chamber I have tested them for several people wanting to add a certain brands to their supply line and stock for sale . Using meters and looking at the outlet water under a scope to see what is being affected At about 24 hrs after they are put on line the ORP or Redox of the system will shoot up to fantastic numbers.
But at about 6 weeks they start to decline to where they started with in 4 months or so . This was with different bulbs and flows bottom line was you need to change that bulb every 5 months average is what I learned from using all of them from the Rain bow lifeguard to the Aquanetics to the coral life twister to the really higher end units AquaUltra violet U/V's I'd get myself a Ozon generater and if you research them I'm sure you will see the same old B/S about how they can kill and do harm to the aquarium .

Only down side I ever found to the U/V was True real world bulb life
