U.V. sterilizers. Do you use One?

    I don't really know what to do but something is going to be done soon I have been manually removing the algea off the surface of the sand for months now as it builds up and I'm tired of that. I noticed no pods in my filter media when I change it anymore?

    Maybe remove a bunch of sand and replace it with live sand?
    or crushed coral I never had this prob. in my 30 gal tank only C.C. Maybe 2 in. on the bottom w/under gravel filter.

    Any other input would be helpful

    Well, you have been presented with several different things you can try. How often do you do water changes. I notice the same thing when I am overdue for a water change. Try doing one 20% change each week for a month and see if it helps. Stir the sand a little section at a time before each change.

    I would give the water changes a shot. It can only help in my opinion (if not the algae situation, then just overall tank health) :)
