Ok this has been a bad week for me and my tank.first a little recap..tank move/upgrade late oct, since then nothing has looked right(but to be expected from move)..early this week while topping off every thing closed up for a day or so,then started looking better..this wed night I fed my brain coral a little peice of shrimp like I have done before.cleaner shrimp got to it and ate it lol..ok..now thurs night im watching the tank and all of a sudden the shrimp came floating past me dead, sadly I took him out..I wake up today to clear slime all over every thing, filled my filter sock up, threw off my skimmer, clogged up my carbon and GFO reactors...it looks like the slime that corals get when you touch them..but its not coming from the corals it seems to be all over everything..I have only done a couple things that I have not done before..corals seem off but fish don`t seem affected..tank also seems o have a (for lack of a better word) fishy type smell to it..had never had this before..
1...added seaweed salad to a rock for my new tang..(normal feedings every other day frozen spirulina(sp) brine shrimp..
2..added seachem reef calcium the one to maintain not raise..
any ideas please Ive never seen this before..click on image to see it bigger..
params I have tested so far are..
    spgr 1.026
    phos 0 but algae visible
    ammon 0 double checked(new kit)
    temp 78 deg f
ro/do water just started to show approx 2 tds..
    ph 8.1
    will do cal/mag/alk soon...
sorry its so long winded but I tried to give as much detail as possible...TIA..

it doesnt look that bad from this pic,but its all over everything..this was the best pic I could get due to it being clear..

cant be sure but is it possible you overdosewd the reef calcium? when i was getting started i overdosed purple up and was shocked at how powerful that stuff is, i dont dose anything at all since.. just big weekly water changes!

dont dose for something you cant test. get that test kit before you throw this stuff in. its a very good product and i do use it. you can raise calcium with this so be careful.

yip I test my alk and cal 2x`s a week thats why I was adding the maintain one its less concentrated than the raise one. I only added a 1/4 of the dose..but I do know what you mean..I am a believer in that saying...

How old are your bulbs? Nuisance algae can grow from an improper spectrum, but that doesn't really sound like it's causing this..
