it looks red, or pink in that photo, almost like (spelling alert) lynbya mucaja (I know I got the species name wrong, and probably the species but I bet it is close....)

let me know if that is the true color

;D No such intention....:) I just like to have the opportunity once a year to poke a little fun at some of the tanks I come across. Thank you all for being good sports.

    Gha/cyno

Very sad to say I have both GHA and Cyno. The GHA is due to a bad membrane in a free ro/di unit that was throwing 120+ tds in system and my well water is around 60tds. One pic is full tank and other is close up to show how thick and also cyno growing on gha. pulling by hand is a pita it's so thick. Forgot to add aiptasia problem you can see of the many in the closeup.

OKAY, I'm TOTALLY entering this IF I have time to take pics of my chiropractor's tank by the 30th (they're closed for the holiday, obviously). Macro AND cyano/slimy green algae all over the darn thing. See my first post for more info, I'll try to get pics!

wow, that is darker brown huh? I hate cameras too...mine always comes up with yellowish pictures, or super saturated color or something...I have no idea to be honest, they should have a "make your picture look normal" button on all cameras.

Any distinguishing features on that "brown algae", or just fine straight filaments with no branching? You may have to isolate a few strands to be sure, sometimes you get caught in the maze so to speak when looking at it.

Send in the pics of this chiropractor tank! :) I would love to hear the story of how you got them.

Yeah. They actually does look a little pink in the DT because the light is pink, but under the 5600k refugium bulb it looks dark brown. It is very fine and very long strands. It doesn't appear to be branching so far, but it is hard to separate this stuff. The strands break before they will pull free from other strands.

Want me to send you some for proper identification? I have lots. ;D

awww man i wish i saw this sooner i just ordered from john haha and my tank is a mess but its getting better im putting in a ton of effort i made a filter that was out of my tank that i could plug in when ever i want and i would scrape algae around so that it would be floating in the water column then i had a long tube and i would suck up all the algae in the water and any loose stuff on the sand its been working great
