I wish I just had not redone my nano. I had you all beat with that! I even made a sump for the red sea to make sure nobody had the headache I had. I took all the fish out of it and left 4 large mexicans in it to clean up. I took probally 20-30 other snails I got from john from my big tank and put them into it. its pretty clear now. Thanks john for great service!

prolifera it looks like. pm me and we can go into business, cleaners for caulerpa. that stuff is really healthy :) or grow gorgs out of it and get into seahorse keeping.

if you really want it gone pincushion urchin, (which has some drawbacks - bulldozers if they are large), rock boring (no acryllic) some of the larger decorators (like the long nosed spider decorator) would do the trick, as would some herbivorous fish. I had a juvie french angel that liked it, but that is a big fish...Manual removal of most of it is a good idea.

But I like caulerpa, so no chance of winning this contest. :)

Is it the kind of turf algae you can peel? In the sticky section under Quickies>Algae> there is a link to a thread we compiled from submissions. Go down to where it says "Derbesia" or something similarly spelled. If so just peel it off, if it is different let me know, I can't really see it from the picture.

pick off the bubble algae, don't be overly worried if it is going to pop. Leave the hair algae, food for the urchin. If he isn't doing better than keeping pace, add in some blue legs or chitons. Chitons aren't as likely to be worn as blue legs.

my friend used tapwater when he was living in Jupiter Fl, and never had any real issues, but when he moved to KY he was plagued with cyano. Good thing about RO/DI is that it is at least consistent. Shame they don't fill up a water change bucket in 5 minutes though.
