Hey, I know the feeling about being disappointed with ASAP.

Quick question, did you happen to start another thread about this too. I could have swore, I wrote a lengthy message about my experience with a leather. Either that, or I am just losing my mind, hopefully not the latter.

So, I will try to remember what I think I posted. I dont have an umbrella leather, but a toadstool. Mine sheds, quite frequently lately. I noticed that you said something about spots, one time during one of the sheds, it got like a weird couple of spots on it that didnt match the rest of the skin. I eventually took pics of it and took it to my LFS. he told me to actually increase flow.

And, my LFS also told me that you can detach it from a rock with scissors. I know yours is doing this on its own, but he informed that if I were to cut the trunk and move it, that it would eventually plant itself, and the remainder of the cut stump would actually start new growth.

I know that whenever I get a new leather that is being frustrating in not staying in a spot, I usaully surround it with rocks so it has no where to go. This usaully works for me and it eventually plants it foot. It helps stand them up straight too because they have no room to lean.

I hope this helps. Now, I'm off to search for that lost post I thought I posted

Well, I would imagine the sting is probably a good sign, despite the fact that it hurt, but if it stung you, you would think that it is still alive

Oh sorry sometimes I try to read faster than what my brain can register....

As for the white spot... I dont have any help. When my leather had the spot it didnt look like that.

Have you tried direct feeding the leather with anything.

One last thing. Awhile ago my zoas werent opening, I talked to my LFS and he said to pull it out and do an iodine dip. Now, that was with my zoas and I dont know if it will help the leather at all.
But I pulled it, put some tank water into a bucket that was just big enough to cover the coral and put some iodine in. I let it sit for like 15-20 mins. Like I said, dont know if works for a leather, but maybe an expert will chime in here....

I hope it works out for you

I can tell you that my leather was getting white spots on it when it wasn't getting enough flow on it. They shed and need flow to get them to shed. As for it not connecting I would agree you need to attach it with a rubberband in low flow then move it to higher flow!

Well the coral has completely detached from the rock. Right now I have it "wedged" in a spot right now hoping that it will reattach. I felt the white spot and it was not mushy or anything and has not gotten bigger so I'm hoping it's nothing. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for checking in.
