Unbelievably disappointed.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Was this a new or used skimmer? Many of us have had setbacks, and continued on to rebuild. I dont know what a new pump would cost but I would look into it. Is there anyway to pull the corals and what not out and maybe house them in a buddies tank until you get everything straightened out? Although seeing where you are in Saskatoon I dont imagine there are a ton of reefers up there. I have on a couple of occasions helped out fellow reefers by holding some livestock while they had to fix something. Good luck, hopefully you can save some of it.

 

What happened with your email from the company? I've used Gen-X pumps for years. Its a good company. I had one of their pumps that I had to "retire", but thats when I did'nt know any better to do regular maintenance (like clean it, check seals, etc.). It still runs, but I'll use it for replacement parts only.

I know how you feel buddy. Just don't give up. :-[

 

Actually you are not alone. This is a known problem with older Gen-X pumps. Google for Gen-x pump and rust and you will see others had the same problem.

Got an email back from the company saying they already know about this problem, they gave a me link to a $160 replacement pump and said have a nice day. At least they were polite I guess, but this is ridiculous and I will be switching skimmer manufacturers. Big Thumbs Down.
