    This ^

I was able to recover about $3,000 of unclaimed assets for my mother after searching her name on that type of website.

Okay, I'll look into that. Is there a fee or anything?

Not sure you would conciser this a scam??? but the idea is there is enough $ available to get a finders fee for said company or they have the rights to it some how.
Chances are there is $ there how much it actual take home is another story. If it's there do it your self and save some cash - don't let them update their list on your dime. IMO

    Good luck

No. If it's a legitimate asset that is owed to you, there should not be any fees due.

Ivan when my father passed away I inherited his shares of stocks in a few wells my family owns. The company that handles them sent me all of the forms certified mail.

Here's my point though... right after my dad passed so did my great aunt. Being the daughter of my great grandfather whom owned the farm the oil was discovered under, she had shares of wells my father didn't. According to her living will, her shares were to be split evenly between her children and brothers.
Since both my grandpa and father are deceased, their shares came to me. It took PDC Energy five years to find me but when they did I never received a phone call, everything was done notarized, certified mail via their legal team.

So I would be very wary my friend and ask for notarized documentation sent certified mail. If they ever ask you to spend money to get money owed to you drop contact immediately and contact authorities.

Thanks for your input everyone. I decided to cancel it though. I have ready too many negative reports. I don't want to risk it.

They have something similar Texas Unclaimed Property - ClaimItTexas.org . A friend of mine who works at a bank told me about it because he searched my name and I got over $2k that I had out for various reasons, such as apartment deposits, electric deposits, school re-imbursments, ect. I told everyone in my family about it and pretty much everyone got atleast $200 with one even going over $4k. Little to say I was very popular with all the family members about then.

I say go for it, but see if you can get around paying the finders fee. Here in Texas they do it for free, and I'm sure your state has a "claim it" website or office you can call. The scam is people trying to get money for finding your money.

Every state's treasurer's site has an unclaimed assets link. I just found $96.42 for my wife and some money owed to my dad.

Exactly. There are a lot of businesses that try to make money off "helping" you get what is already yours...for a fee. I used to get letters from a company NOT associated with Social Security offering to help me get my Social Security totals or whatever. Social Security sends me one of those free every year LOL.

Every year here in Dallas/Fort Worth, they publish several pages in the newspaper listing people who have money coming to them from various sources. All it costs is the price of the newspaper!
