is the only difference between the ecopico and ecopico reef that it comes with 2 extra led strips? The ecopico normal is on ebay for around $50. So it would be cheaper to just do that and buy the extra 2 led strips or buy a par bulb? What do you guys think would be my best bet?

Also now that i have been looking it over more, i am not sure if i like that it doesn't have a back separate compartment for the heater/filter/w.e. I just like the clean look that a false wall gives. How it hides everything.

    Hmm.

I have one I'd sell. You'd have to pay for shipping and such. It's 7.5 gallons. Includes two small pumps thru the false wall. PM me if interested. Well negotiate a price. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349461273.848124.jpg

I like that tank. ^ You could stick a par30 in the desk lamp and have yourself a reef tank. I might be selling a Boost par30 soon if you are interested. $50 shipped. 60* optics, 3RB/2CW diodes.

The EcoPico mini Reef has 2 additional LED strips. That is the only real difference. It would not be beneficial to buy the FW tank and buy the LED strips separately. You will need these additional LEDS if you want to support anything beyond just soft corals.

I would not do fish in a tank this small. You could do sexy shrimp and a porcelain crab (or emerald) though.

Well i can get the normal off ebay for $60 shipped, so then i could buy 4 led strips for under $100 and have a better tank then the reef ready for the same price.

And i like the look of the eco arm light better then having a big fixture over top. Looks more sleek and clean.

But i do like civics tank, so depending on the equip it comes with and price i might just buy that :p

Both tanks have nice dimensions. Let us know what works out for you! I'll be following this tank thread. :)

Just remembered the only thing about having 4 led strips on the ecopico reef is that they only make 2-way and 3-way splitters. So you would likely need a second transformer (unless you got 3 2-ways and piggy-backed them).

i was going to have 5 strips.... so from left to right white/blue, blue, white/blue, blue, white /blue.

and have the white blues on a 3way and the blues on a 2 way so i can control them separably for morning and evening.
