Do you already own a digital camera? Sometimes the best way to go is a housing for your camera.

One camera that I use for the occasional shot under/around water is an Olympus stylus tough 3000 - it ranges about 200 dollars and for 12 mega-pixels it isn't a bad option. Mind you, this is only guaranteed for 10 feet under shooting, although if you look up the other Olympus stylus tough cameras there are a couple at 33 feet underwater. Anything deeper than this is out of my specialty though, As I don't dive too often.

One of the reasons I enjoy the Olympus is because it isnt bigger than satan in size, comparing it to most underwater cameras, or cams with underwater housing, giving it the option to funtion as your normal point and shoot camera as well. and 12 megs isnt a bad cam either these days

When I went diving, I used the waterproof kodak cameras that are disposable. They made it down to sixty feet with me, no problem. But the resolution sucks, the pics can be very very fuzzy.

But my friend has an Olympus camera (10ft depth one?) and it works great. It's awesome. Just remember to dry it out before plugging it into something.

I have the Olympus tough camera.. mine is around 7mega pixels, its old but I have put it through more hell and it still keeps taking great pictures.. I can actually stand on it without the screen breaking, which is pretty awesome to me..
