I would like to know experiences with the epoxy that cures underwater putty that you knead..

I have heard they do weird things to your skimmer...

1 - what do they do to the skimmer? my skimmer is an EV-120 Outside of sump so anything that might cause it to overflow would be bad for me.

2- are there any that don't mess up your skimmer?

3 - does it work curing underwater? brand recommendations?

Ive used it a lot actually. I've never had a problem with my skimmer with it. I've used this white version that works, but isn't as sticky as a purple, more expensive version. Sorry, but I have no idea what the brands are called. And yes, it cures underwater with no problem.

i dont believe there was any change in my skimmer. i used both a aquarium brand. and a homedepot one for 1/5 the price. it was a risk but it seemed to be the exact same stuff.

I've never had any problem using it at all. I prefer to use the gel super glue for frags, but thats just me.

The white stuff you nead that comes in an aquarium style that's called "fast stick" or "hold fast" or whatever, the one with the white center, is actually exactly what that stuff Billy Mayes is crazy about called "Mighty Putty". We paid $15 for one 6 or 8 inch tube of premier aquarium putty, then we also paid only only $10 at a hardware store for a box of 3 mighty putty tubes. They're the same stuff. As far as this better "purple stuff" goes, I've never used it. So I can't say anything about it. Aquarium Fast Stick and Mighty Putty all hold our rocks together :p

And it hasn't effected our skimmer at all, so far as I can tell.

The purple stuff is not better quality, its the same. More expensive because it is much less intrusive to look at in an aquarium than the great stuff(looks like Coraline).

yea, that's basically it. It is more sticky, so it makes it easier to stick underwater.

that's a good point. Only use it to cement the rock/frag disk to the rock, not the actual coral. When it cures, it heats up, like super glue.
