    Hi there:

I'm in the planning/reading/studying mode preparing for a first reef tank. I'm curious, does anyone ever light one end of a large tank more than the other so that they can have different things with different light requirements?

    thanks all,

I usually just place the items that need less light in shadier areas.

My six foot 125 has a three foot, six bulb TEK fixture in the center. I tend to like low light LPS and NPS corals. They grow very well on each end of the tank. There is enough light in the center to grow SPS. It's definitely not dark, but I like the contrast in lighting.
