So i purchased this tang yesterday from an LFS as my gf has been wanting a vlamingi for a long time, and i too have been starting to enjoy this fishs colours. The store was selling the fish as a unicron tang. I believe the fish to be a vlamingi tang so we got it anyways.
Could i get an ID of this?
    unicorn or vlamingi?

Assuming you don't have a species that doesn't grow a horn, your fish should grow a horn regardless of whether it's a male or female (I think).

That is a vlamingi. And yes, there is a difference between that and a true unicorn.
    Unicorn tang = Naso unicornis
    Vlamingi Tang = Naso vlamingii

Also, looking at your avatar pic and the other naso, I hope you have a massive tank?

Not really. A vlamingi gets more of a "bump" then a horn. But they both will have something on the forehead ;)

two fish in the avatar are KIA long goners. They were two first fish we had and were great friends... hmph, thanks for reminding me tho... All that is in the tank is a banggai cardinal and vlamingi, and some where under the rocks lives a watchman goby.
