Ah, nice to know. I've never kept one but have seen them in public aquariums.

The guy at the LFS told me that only males get the bump. Is this true?
Also, how big do they get before they begin to get a bump? and how long does it take them grow to that size?

I have no idea about the male and female differences.
They should start to get a bump at about 5-7". How long that takes depends on how big it is now ;) They are very fast growers. Expect it to reach a foot within the first 10-12 months. Adult size is over 2 feet. Naso's are big in generally, and this is the fastest growing and one of the biggest of them ;)

The vlamingi tang we got is about 3inches in length and cost 30$. One of the LFS are a group of great individuals, always making it easy on the pocket. They are also trying to beat out a HUGE fish corporation known as BigAl's as the stores like these make the hobby nearly impossible to those who have lower budgets. The guy asked me how much the fish was, told him it said 30$ and he said hed meet me halfway and gave it to me for 25$.

I have no idea what the Big al's price for the vlamingi tang's are. Not sure if they would go for 100, but i have never seen one there for sale. Im just happy i got a beautiful fish for pretty cheap. However, the one i picked out is SUPER SHY!!!! he has only stayed on the left half of the tank even though hes the only fish other than a cardinal. HOWS THE PURPLE TANG divott?

Very nice vlamingi. I just got one a week ago and love it. I paid 50 for mine and thought that was a good deal. Also they had a full grown adult in their reef system and it did not have a horn. Just a small bump but not huge.
