    Does your camera have autofocus? Its the lil flower thingy... Try setting some boxes or something in front of the tank to rest the camera on and use the flash.

    A friend of mine who is has been a reef keeper for 30 years thinks that it's some sort of sponge, since him and I both use actual filtered sea water, he thinks it might be some sort of sponge hitchhiker. Any thoughts?

    possible, using a real sea water direct from sea is risky even though you filter it. unless you talk about nutrition sea water. $17-20 per 4.4g at LFS

    Its filtered and put through a ph buffer and phosphate controller, I actually get it from my dad who supplies it to the LFS, no one has ever had any problems with it.
