Union fittings ? Yes or No ?

    I am trying to figure out the plumbing for a 30 gallon sump under my new 90 gallon tank. The question is how permanent do I want the plumbing . Should I have union fittings right off the main overflow and return lines ? They are so close together and the union fittings are so big I don't know if they would fit next to each other. What if I ever need to remove the sump or something, then what....

    Put one union right above the return pump. Put the other union anywhere it will fit.
