We have a very unique crab available! This Sponge Crab (Dromidiopsis dormia) has taken on a cluster of 75+ Green Zoanthids as camoflauge, instead of a sponge! This crab has 2 pairs of highly adapted legs that are used to grip the inside of a sponge (or in this case, a zoanthid colony!) and use it as camoflauge to cover its whole body. When this crab walks about the rockwork it looks like a living, mobile coral! The colony of zoanthids that this crab has chosen is approximately 2 inches across, and contains roughly 75 living green polyps. The polyps are closed up in the video above because we were picking up the animal which retracted the polyps into hiding. You can purchase this crab at ReefScavengers.Com - Cleaner Crews, Inverts, Corals & More!!, go to the collector's catch section to view info and video. Only One Available!
