I worked hard on these rascals so it was fun to dig out film from nearly ten years ago till now and compile it with some growth pics and animal diversity...hope you like it

Absolutely stunning. This is the first long YouTube video I've watched from beginning to end in some time. You have serious talent. Big thanks for joining 3reef. If you could share some of your routine and husbandry tips with us - we could all learn something here. I am putting this on the homepage now!

man I learned it all from you guys in the webworld back in the day so in the end we're all just passin around frags he he

you know if I could sump up the husbandry that runs these items it would be that most of my tanks are so small that water changes don't cause procrastination in me...in our larger systems the daunting task of removing enough water to simulate nature usually doesn't occur so we construct fixation systems (algae scrubbers, chemical denitrators for example) or efficient export systems (skimming) which obviously do work, but they are still technology and service-bound no matter how you slice it. The less of that you have, the less work you have and actually the tanks are more stable simply because of removal of possible failure variables...size doesn't change stability all that much like the books say. I've seen just as many larger tank wrecks...

Since I happen to be messing with palmtops, it's as simple as zip out the back corkhole into my sink and filled right back up from undersink water jug. This mimics a giant filtration system and at one gallon no one can call it too much work! The sizes obviously preclude fishkeeping, but it's not impossible, I've done it in the micro tank before and it was done ethically and sensibly imo but I would not promote it for casual experimentation. All I had to do was remove the inverts, leave the coral and replace shrimp and crab with one panda goby and the bioloading was the same as told by my nitrate tolerances. it's not wise for large-scale use, picos with fish, but it's chemically possible, people are gonna do it, I just wanted to see what it would really take to build a full scale palmtop reef and without a fish you can't really do it. but come on where else are you going to go with a palmtop reef :) it was only in there a month or two for testing, I never wanted to take the chance of him dying in a rock crevice it was just to test nitrate clearances in that internal refugium.

thanks for checking out the vids and chatting guys

I have pics of it but your file uploader will not pull up for me, I'll keep trying.
