one more question....is it possible my water could be too clean to keep one? if i have a skimmer that is very efficient and a fuge will all the nutrients be removed? I'm curious if anyone runs there skimmer on a timer or just doens't have it going 24/7. I'm wondering if its also why i'm having trouble keeping macro algae in my fuge. they all seem to wither away now... any ideas?

Sounds like you do not have enough nutrients to keep the macro algae going.

What kind of lighting in the fuge?

i was using a 6400k CFL 20 watt, but switched to a normal 60 watt house bulb...the yellow looking kind. i thought it could have been the lights so i tried switching but im thinking its not the lights now... any way to know forsure?

The 6400k 20w CFL bulb has way more light output than the 60w incandescent bulb. Better off switching back to the CFL.

i had switched to the incandescent bulb because i thought the lighting was too strong when i saw my cheato in the fuge was almost all white. I had a large bunch of green bubble algae and it disappeared in a week. My fuge is almost empty...i have 3 mangroves that are still doing well and a very small amount of living cheato and calupera.

Should i switch off the skimmmer? maybe only skim at night? any suggestions ?

well and i am kinda P'd off at the LFS that he would sell this...He said he didn't know what it was an only brought in two. The first one he had died almost as soon as it arrived, and the one i got he gave me after I was able to I.D some snails he had never had before as American star snail...one of my favorite snails because they seem to love hair algae!

Happy it was free...kinda bummed it likely to die.. it stays closed most of the time.
