Unknown snail

Can someone id this snail, he seem to have come out of nowhere and is very aggressive

 

Thats a type of tulip snail. Looks identicle to the ones I tossed that were eating zoanthids. Some tulips eat corals, some eat algae, some eat other snails. None are good IMO. Very pretty though.

Be on the look out for babies, they will be tiny white dots on the glass. With close inspection, they will have the same shaped shell.

 

I think its been eating other snails, if thats the case I'll get it out.

Thanks for the info, I got him out. Twice I found him trying to munch one my queen conch's, once in my hand he started jumping, very aggressive snail.
I'll be on the look out for others.

 

I have never seen a snail jump Gotta a pic?

 

The ones I had tried to eat my finger when I had it in my hand. They dont retract into their shell when attacked, they fight back!

It's a Tulip Snail alright, and as you noted, is an aggressive killer. They eat other molluscs, and are very effective predators, but none of them eat zoanthids, corals, or algae. The chances of raising these snails in an aquarium are essentially nil, without some very sophisticated equipment. Tulips snails can move fairly quickly, and withdrawal or extension can make the operculum swing, kind of like jumping or kicking, but they can't really jump like true conchs (strombids and their relatives). A few other families can "fly" or almost jump (some trochids, scissurellids, etc.).

Thanks all for the id, I got him out as he was trying to kill a queen conch. As for the "flying" I meant he tries to jump out your hand, extends pretty far, you said it perfectly. I haven't seen any babies as of yet.
