What should I do with my chiller this winter?

  1. Leave it running, as long as its not kicking in its not using much electricity

My chiller is no longer needed this winter and I probably wont need it to do its job again until May. Should I unplug the chiller and just keep the pump flowing through it, or take it down, flush it out and let it sit until summer? If I take it down, do I just run fresh water through it to flush out the salt so it doesn't rust?

yeah i here ya. How do I dry it out though? Would be about impossible to get all the water out of the coils without blasting compressed air through it. I just dont want it to rust and not work for the summer when I need it. The thing wasnt cheap. lol

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Been wondering the exact same thing myself.

What do you flush it with that will help to clean up any algae that is growing on the tubing.

I seriously need some assistance with basic chiller maintance, following.!

I am not sure about your particular chiller but the one I had had an outlet for my heater bar. I would plug the heater in and use it the chiller as my thermostat. If water got cool heat went on. When water got warm the chiller will go on I left in on all year.

When I upgraded to a larger tank and my chiller was too small I flushed it with fresh water and then used my air compressor to blow the water out. I just set the dial to 10-12 pounds of pressure and had no problems. I flushed mine 3 times to make sure I got everything out.
i sold it to a freind of mine about 3-4 months after it was sitting and he has had it 4 months with no problems. Good luck

    I would leave it running.
