you could simply pop a panorama module over that tank and you could probably grow some sps. that would be a great upgrade in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of sps though. Most are stationary and don't move much if at all. I don't like that. I like flowy moving corals. Sure there are some nice colored sps but that's pretty much it. That's my opinion anyway... My favorite corals are definately the LPS. My tank is too small to have sps anyway... most people grow sps to watch them get big and look really nice and eventually sell and trade frags... my tank is only a 10gal and I wouldn't be able to grow them very big which would be a little boring. If I had a bigger tank then I probably would put some sps in there just to say that I have some... but like I said before I'm an LPS and Softie fan! :D

my tank is only 5 gallons and i have housed multiple sps frags in there with moderate success, expect a few weeks ago i had a snail die and cloud up the tank while i was away and by the time i got back all my sps were dead. it can easily be done on a 10 gallon tank, and there are some gorgeous looking sps, i would particularly suggest a montipora or a birdsnest, they are absolutely beautiful looking while being some of the hardiest sps. it can never hurt to try a frag if you want. plus a panorama will also probably increase the growth rate of your existing corals, and widen the variety of lps you can keep.

lol that's why I have 8 hermit crabs in my tank! They can really take care of things like that that you can miss. But the hermits I do have actually killed and ate all of my margarita snails and took the shells except for one which is still alive LOL Just waiting for them to find him. I have a whole bunch of different size shells in my tank too to prevent stuff like that from happeneing but I guess those margarita snail shells are too irrisistable lol But they don't seem to touch my astraea snails, the opening to the shell is too small for any of my hermits to fit into. So, I think I will be replacing the 6 margarita snails and turbo snail that they killed with more astraeas. I have a love hate relationship with hermits!

Yea, a good clean up crew is one thing that I MUST have! Both for algea, even though I don't have much at all, and for any food that is left over. That's why I really like the hermits. Because they eat both algea and left over food and detritus. I really like all of the brittle stars and bristle worms in my tank too, and I ahve LOTS of them! They are wonderful leftover food eaters and chow down on the detritus that I am unable to reach. The hermit in my Avatar pic is actually my favorite hermit and the very first critter I ever got for my tank almost a year ago!

i have 8 hermit crabs in my ten gallon, and they do not clean much, instead most of the waste in my tank are made by them. i am thinking of giving them to a local reefer.

bad idea, they are a massive benefit to your tank, without them where will all the uneaten food go? where will one of your fish go if it dies while your away? the hermits wont be there so your tank will have some serious consequences.

I barely feed my tank, and every time I feed it, my fish takes every bit of it; but now that i think of it, I'll leave a few. thanks for your advice!
