What are you planning on upgrading too -- seems like a very big decision. Are you going to keep the 75g or replace the in-wall with something bigger?

Yes, it will be a big project. I plan to move next year but with the real estate market being the way it is, not sure we'll get a quick sale on our home. I will have to remove the cabinets on the sides of the tank so a bigger tank can fit. I was planning to upgrade to a standard 180 with no internal overflows that I was going to drill/modify to add an overflow on one side, that way I didn't have to look at the ugly internal overflows...but that plan might change, I know someone who is selling a 125 w/ corner overflows that is in great shape...I might go with the 125, I'm suppose to pick it up tomorrow.

very exciting! you should use your current display for the sump if you upgrade to the 125. i'm thinking a key factor to your tanks health might be you have a very good sump set up that is also large in scale to the display tank. most people i see have a 90g tank for example with a 20 or 40g sump. really think it makes a huge difference as far as keeping the display tank in good condition.

Having a spacious sump is very convenient but if added volume is not a concern, all you really need is something to hide your equipment and hold the water that would drain from your main tank should the power go out or if you have to shut down the system. I think a refugium is very benefical to a system. I'm considering getting another 125 to build a sump for the upgrade....either that or I get another 55 to build a remote DSB/fuge.

My tank has recovered from the 9 day power outage we experienced the end of October. Most of the dead coral has been removed...on the good side, the corals are coloring up again and there is a little more room for corals to grow again.

Here's a short video, it was recorded with my Samsung Galaxy SII so not the best quality but not bad for a phone.

Note: Watch vid in HD (720P) if possible. Also, ignore the power cord at 1:45, every thing still not back in it's correct place yet :)

With a tank like that have you ever thought of investing in a small generator that you can use in case something like that ever happened again? You might never need it but its good to know its there if do..

I had a generator for years and never used it so I got rid of it because it was just rusting out....but after the last storm, I picked up a new one....this one is not going anywhere, learned my lesson ;D

    thanks.

This pic was taken with my phone so it's not the best quality...
Not sure where this guy is trying to go but he's running out of room, he's about to break the surface.
