I decided to upgrade tanks. I will be making the switch within the next couple of weeks, hopefully! I have a process setup for getting everything out of the 55. But, what about putting everything in the 72? How do I go about this correctly?

    Current tank 55g

40 pounds of live Carib sea aragonite

40 pounds LR and 40 to 50 pounds of lace rock

    2 k2's and 2k1's

Fish- 2 green chromis, 1 fairy wrasse, 1 fire fish

Assorted snails and a cleaner shrimp

There are a few misc. items I will be picking up/adding to the tank during the move. I will be adding another bag of Carib Sea aragonite and be adding a 20g long sump/fuge. I will also be adding a new skimmer as well.

having recenly swapped tanks - (same size just replacing a badly scratched one)

I threw out my sand - rather than worry about releasing stuff from it and having parameter spikes etc , I just dumped it and started with new sand
keep a couple of cups of it to seed new sand is a good idea

    other than that

1)simply make some new salt water ( 20 gallons plus)
    2) have some holding tanks, tubs for your corals while moving things across
3)start filling new tank with water from old tank
    4) add new base rock
    5) add new sand/ plus some of the old sand
    6) move the old rocks across
    7) top up level as required to ensure corals placed are submerged
    8) add corals
    9) replace and run equipement
    10) lager and curry.

Thats how I would do it (did it)

    Steve

Thanks Steve. I don't think this is going to be that hard. I just want to take my time and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
