So I went and got a 72 gallon bow front aquarium ready for salt water. With it came a few things but I'm focusing on the Coralife 125 skimmer that came with the tank. I want to build a 30 gallon sump/fuge right under the tank.

My question is how good is the coralife 125 skimmer?

Also if anyone could help me out by telling me about better performing skimmers then the coralife 125 (dont mind spending some money). A list of better skimmers, a link to a location or a link to another thread would be awesome.

I'm also very interested in your opinion about this skimmer and the recommendations, so please help me out.

    Thank you.:)

The coralife skimmer is an ok skimmer. I had one but it leaked so I bought an in/sump skimmer the Marineland Marine Pro 100 for my old 65g. I was new to reefs and just did not want the leaks. I now have a Marine Pro 300 for my 210g. I just setup an ATO which is the way to go to keep the sump a specific level. I tried setting it up a while ago but things got out of wack and I had some water on the ground one morning.
The thing with an in/sump skimmer is you have to keep the water level the same and at the same time it gives the hobbyist a breather so You don't have to pour RO water in the sump twice a day or more. Here are some pics of how it turned out. I'll check back tomorrow for any questions but I'm falling asleep as I talk.

I use a 65 coralife, and would not use anything else. I have had extremely good luck with it. I am not saying there are not better ones out there. But for the price, the performance is excellent.

I used a coralife super skimmer 125, had issues with the pump constantly, ditched it on the 58g and started using a new eheim skimmer works great but you have to use an ATO any fluctuations in water height in the sump affects it's functionality but they are cheap enough you can buy the skimmer and an ATO for the price of a higher end skimmer

on my 90g I use an ASM G2, nothing bad to say about it at all, great skimmer
