whats the target date for putting these above the tank?

Im keen to see the before and after shots

PS - you know this , so Im wasting my time typing this, but you might want to raise them lights a little high to start with and then bring them down slowly so you dont shock your existing corals

Made some good progress today...I had to fix my A/C first, so got a later start than I wanted. I am uploading pics to photobucket now.

Hey Steve!!! I am thinking by next weekend it should be ready. The hold-up will be the coats of Poly. I am going to use about 6 like I did on the stand. There will be alot of wiring to do also..Halides, Fans, Supplemental T-5, Moons...I am still working out the routing and placements. I added an extra inch in the back of the canopy ceiling. I need all the room I can get. I will also start the halides out on the 250w and use layers of window screen over the top. Then slowly bring them up and remove layers of screen.;D

    Ok Pics Time!!
Went to HD and got some 2x4's to build a quick table for the Table saw, Mitre Saw etc. Also decided on finished hard pine. Alot cheaper than Red Oak, but has a very similar grain. I was really impressed, cause I said I would not use Pine.

Had 2 glue and clamp 2 pieces for the sides. They did not have any that were wide enough.

Framed out and glued the front panel. It will have 2 doors on each hole that will open from the center. This will match the way the doors are on the stand.

Here is the finished front panel.

After the glue cured on the side panels. I ripped them down to size, and installed the back upper brace.

I then positioned and clamped the right side of the canopy. and this is where it stands right now. I will secure and glue the left side before I go to bed tonite. That way the frame portion will be ready to start boxing in tommorow.

Halides look like they are going to fit nice. Bulbs should ride about 9 in over the water surface.

Thanks...Also for your input last night. It was really an optical illusion when I built the front panel. Looked like the lights would be way to low. But after bringing the panel in and holding it up to the tank...Its all Good!!
