When I switched tanks I put all my rocks, fish corals, water, inverts in buckets, coolers with heater and powerheads while I broke down and set up my new tank.

Ok, sounds good. I will need to add another 10 gal to the tank, should it be ok to add the livestock in that day?

From my past experience I had no problems adding the livestock as soon as possible. Adding 10 gals of new salt water is basically like a water change so it won't make any difference. Just make sure your water temp, ph, and sp are all the same as your old tank was before adding the fish back in.

I found setting small dinner plates at angles against my rock or flat on top of the sand if possible, then adding my water by pouring over the plates keeps the water from getting too murky. The trick is keeping the water from hitting the sand directly. Let the water spill over the plates. I also gave all of my rocks a good shake in the buckets of water they were sitting in before putting them in the new tank. That got any debris stuck in the holes out - another way to keep the water more clear. I found that I actually needed a little more water than what I thought because my old tank water got really dirty from my rocks. I didn't want to use the water at the bottom of the buckets that was really dirty.

    Good luck. You'll do fine!
