for corals i dont plan on keeping anything real serious, as for room i think that Workhorse ballast is small enough to fit. The Ballastwise one is a bit longer but may work. my main worry was will those work or not? do they just have to be the same/close to wattage?

It says it will run 2x65 but it will not run them properly, you should get 2 WH 7s instead, price isn't that much different and you have the piece of mind that it is actually running you lamps right. The 7s are pretty long though....

how much can you overdrive a 65w bulb? they would be getting almost double their wattage with the WH7

WH will not overdrive, its the most amount of watts it can power.... You could run one lamp on it if you want... Ice Cap ballasts are the ballasts that overdrive.

I E-mailed the people at Ballast-Wise and told them what I had and if they could recommend the right ballast for me. They replied the very next day with a model number. The way I look at is, whatever ballast you do get, it has to be better than the stock ones. I do like IceCaps and havent heard any bad rep. on the Coralife ballasts either, but I have found that the ballasts at BallastWise are a great "fit" when it comes to size.
