so my lease in my appartment is going to be up in a few months and plan on getting a house. I decided a while ago that i wanted to upgrade my 40 gallon tank when I move since it will be the perfect time. I was aiming for a 75 gallon but I found a good deal on craigslist for a 60 gallon tank and stand, The tank is 48x16x17". the whole reason I wanted to upgrade is so i can get a tank that is 4 feet long, but I am just worried that after having the 60 gallon for a little while I might want to go bigger again. does anybody think its a dumb idea to go just 20 gallons more?

I wouldn't call it dumb but you seem set on the 75. I think you would be better off getting the 75.

I like the width of the 75 because its 18 inches but I like the lower height of the 60 gallon. Its only different by a few inches but I just want to make my next upgrade last for a while. I think its just from seeing all of these big upgrades on here that made me feel like 20 extra gallons wasnt very much

If it was a 65 gallon it would be perfect since its 18 inches wide and 17 inches tall. then Id have the best of both worlds

Definitely agree on the 65. I will say that the 75 is very nice though with the 3" to 4" more if your arms are long enough.

ya my 40 gallon is about 21 inches tall and I can get my arm to the bottom pretty good when I need to. the craigslist add said the tank was a 65 gallon and I got pretty excited but when I asked him for the dimensions it came out to be the dimensions of a 60 gallon

Youre in Phoenix, something will def. pop up for you. What I did was every morning, I searched for "Fish tank" and "Aquarium" on the CL for like a month or so until I found my 90gallon.
