I have a 65 gallon tank that is 36" long and I currently have a 24" Orphek PR156 UV+ LED fixture. This is suspended 12 inches over the water, if I upgrade to a 48" 90 gallon aquarium, can I continue to use this fixture to grow my corals? I have mostly softies, zoa's and LPS, I do have some SPS but that is sitting at high levels in the water. I really dont want to get more lighting, and I certanly cant afford another 700 dollar fixture!

You can certainly continue to use it Texanjordan

you may find that areas on either end of the tank are a bit on the dull side
and you do not want to raise the light unit by to much to compensate for that
but if you try and keep the corals you already have in similar locations in respect of light fitting in their new home

you may then be able to add less demanding corals in terms of light requirments to fill out the spaces on either end of the set up

I'm with playground on this one. I'm not sure about that fixture, but you could probably raise it some to lessen the extent of your dark spots (but agree not by much so that your par isn't dropping off). If you go this route I would say you definitely add more lighting before its over with :p.

If you do exactly as Steve suggested, yes it will work.

What I plan on doing is putting all of my rockwork in the middle of the tank directly under the light fixture. Eventually I will buy two Par 38 bulbs, and hang them on either end of the tank to account for dead spots.
