Found a great deal on a used reef octopus bh2000. So now I have my protein skimmer:) Looks like it hasn't been cleaned maybe ever tho. How do I go about cleaning this bad boy?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yeah good luck with that. ::)

I can not keep my cats off my tank. Thrills me to no end when I find them drinking out of the over flow. Nom nom 2 parts.

I don't even try to keep them off... just so long as they stay OUT I am satisfied;)

still no word on the rock... I called the guy a week ago and he apologized and promised I would receive tracking info by the end of the day. I placed the order (and it was confirmed) on the 6th. I am way beyond frustrated at this point. I'm considering canceling it.... PITA! I guess I'll just be a good girl and try to be patient:p

In the meantime, the canopy is beautifully finished and the skimmer is ready to go. I find myself hooking up all my new toys to an 18g tupperware thing just to play with them LOL;) I put the skimmer on my old tank last night just to test it out and get a feel for it. HUGE bubbles everywhere. My fish wouldn't even come out of hiding until I put some food in there. I'm pretty sure at least some of the bubbles were caused by the inability to level the skimmer. Not enough room behind the tank to properly adjust it. Even so, it pulled out a fair amount of skimmate.

I really want to set up my new tank already!!! Must keep telling myself "Patience is a virtue"

Sorry there are no pics, apparently our apartment has roughly the same lighting as a cave. Pics of the black canopy don't show any detail:p

Everything looks great. Should be beautiful with that Vega!

Soooo the million dollar question is: "Did you drill it?"

I concur with the other folks and definitely say drill it now and just put in a plug.

In less than 6 months you'll be looking at sumps and it will be super easy to do vs next to impossible. .... don't say we didn't warn ya!

Unfortunately I have been barred from drilling until a later date... having a 40b and a 30b (my freshwater) in a 2nd floor apt makes my bf nervous enough. There is no way he would give in on getting a sump. He almost had a heart attack when I accidentally revealed that with the fuge and skimmer our total water volume would be just over 50 gallons lol. With this tank I have promised no more upgrades/additions until we get a house. On the upside, we agreed that then I am more or less free to go nuts;D

...Drill it, plug it and ask for forgiveness later! ;D
