I'm looking to upgrade the lighting for my new 90 BF build on which we have been using a jimmy rigged Power Compact Fluorescent 24in ODYSSEA Lighting from the old tank while i saved up money. Currently the new tank is a FOWLER but we do plan to add corals over the next year so i want to make sure it will be a worth while investment.

I have been looking into the AquaticLife 48" T5 HO 6 Lamp Fixture w/ Lunar Lights from marine and reef.com which has free shipping and a (Free Set of Replacement Bulbs) which sounds like a good deal.

What do you all think? Any feed back is welcome.

    Again Thank You in advance.

That should take care of all your needs and desires for lighting. Go for it.

    +1

That seems to be the going price for that unit, even without the extras from other suppliers.

Just curious how many of each bulbs everyone is using in reference to the above unit 420/460nm Actinic Lamps, 460/620nm Purple lamps , AquaticLife 10,000K Lamp?

The reason I ask is the deal consist of replacement bulbs and i wanted to know which to order since i can have any combination as part of the deal.

    thanks again

    Hello,

I don't use the forum much as I am on a hiatus from saltwater for a while due to my traveling job. I do however know a great deal about AquaticLife fixtures as I have been running them for the past 3.5 years without a hitch. The one thing I will say is that their bulbs are in no comparison to Geismann, ATI, Korallen Zucht, or UV Lighting bulbs. They have a shorter life span and don't put out the same amount of light energy the coral need to photosynthesize, basically less efficient. Again this all has to do with what you want to keep in your tank.
With this fixture you will be able to house most corals, including many sps.
Another thing to think about is if the fixture will fit on top of your bowfront tank. My Aquaticlife 6 bulb took most of the real estate on top of my normal 90 gallon as it is pretty wide. I would measure your sides to be sure.

If you search through the forum for aquaticlife you can see that many have said wonderful things about their product and an even better customer support.

On another note, I currently have a 4 bulb fixture from them which has two very slightly used Geismann Aquablue+ and two aquatic life actinics in it for sale, I was actually just about to post it up here in a few minutes. I don't want you to think the above post was a sales pitch, I really do just love their products. Now that I have a cichlid tank I just don't have the need and will get into LED when I get a job back in town.
