If any of broke off, try to get it out. If it's venomous then keep a close eye on it, if starts swelling see a doc.

Its best to take action as soon as you get a sting from a sea urchin its best to Submerge the wound in hot water for atleast 20-30minutes. To remove any large spines in the wound cover it with shaving cream and gently scrap it with a clean razor. Clean the wound in soup and freshwater and make sure you keep the wound open do not cover it with plasters/bandages etc..

Thats all you can really do, sorry you got a sting from the urchin. hopefully the wound will heal up soon.

The knot /lump /cyst that will follow will dissolve and fade away in a yr or so Like a sand spur in the old foot just takes some time. I had one to just fade away wore in on my finger close to 1.5 yrs

I was stung by my blue tuxedo last week and I still have the stinger in me, thankfully no side affects and that those guys aren't venemos. But I'm pretty sure yours is so it's probably best to get the stinger out and get the wound taken care of right away. Good luck

Thanks for the quick replys all, i did soak it in hot water for about 5 mins, and afterwards the blackness that was within seems to have gone, i think it was a small piece of spine, as since then it has not got sore again yet, it is venomous, but just felt like a bee sting upon impact...first time in 2 years, knew he would get me one day lol..

I have had them very same type to bang me a few times in my life If it bites stings or sticks and lives in a marine tank I have been on the receiving end of what ever it was and what ever it does to make you hurt LOL. Been tagged by ells to lion fish worst I ever had was a olive Moray latch onto my hand once 3 to 4 ft long and fangs like a pit bull they are very powerful critters at that size :) Oh and that black spot /speck will be where the cyst forms up and a little bump like hard wart almost will form . There spines are calcium carbonate and will over time dissolve and be pushed out of the body somewhere ?
