    man i swear i gave a decent cleaning not 2 months ago and this fool has decided to go on strike on my....

    i came back yesterday from a night shift from work and i dont really have the motivation today to take out my tunze reefpack 505 to give it a good scrub. i was planning on doing the cleaning this friday together with the rest of my tank maintenance schedule.

    i dont think ill crash my system if i run my tank skimmerless for 5 days but my question is this;

    i use NOPOX and as far as i know the main media that will remove trapped particles by this substance is the skimmer itself, so should i stop dosing nopox for this week?

    also any cleaning tips aside the classic vinegar bath (could use a little more details on the matter actually)?

    specs:

    450l reef

    filter:

    skimmer, carbon and mechanical filter + LR and SB
    ....enough flow (thats not important here)

    cheers
    jeff

    FWIW, I would stop the dosing.

    Sorry Jeff, but I would be very afraid to advise stopping the carbon dosing to go skimmerless for a week. Carbon dosing is one of those things your tank needs to be weaned from gradually to prevent shock, and quite frankly, also doesn't work well without a skimmer...

    FWIW, the extra activity from carbon dosing is probably the reason it needs such frequent cleaning.

    the skimmer kicked back into action but there is clearly something preventing its smooth running so ill have to take it out of the water and clean it anyway.

    thx for the reminder that sudden changes are never good mr bill.
