I know someone who has a 125 (corner overflows) w/ 55g sump and 35g fuge. He took down the system 3 yrs ago, however, the sand bed (about 4") has been sitting in the 125 for the last 3 yrs. The tank is still on the stand, not visible scratches or chips, I'm considering buying it. (he's selling me all 3 tanks for $200). What do you guys think, am I asking for trouble with the seals ?

The flange on either side if the bulkheads are almost sure to be dried up by now if its just been sitting in the garage. But those would only be a few dollars to replace. I'd say go ahead an buy it. :)

Just have him fill it up with water before you buy. I would ditch the sand though. Resealing it shouldn't be a problem if you want to do it.

Just inspect the seals thoroughly. Even if it holds water now, you need to inspect the condition of the silicon. If it is dried or peeled up anywhere then be wary, as you will likely need a reseal in the near future. If everything looks hunky dory, then you should be set.

Resealing isn't too hard. I think it would actually be easier in a tank that size. I just did my 30 long, and while it wasn't difficult, some more room to move would have been nice.

    Buy it!

I would suggest replacing all of the bulkheads. I made the mistake of not doing so in my 100 gallon and have been having to plug with silicon.... pretty annoying!
