    I also tested alk and it dropped to 5 so I'll be upping that over a few days.

    Lol. I'll raise it up and we'll see what happens. I don't remember my levels ever dropping that much so maybe it's just a fluke thing. It would be nice if it was the issue but I'm sure it won't be that easy of a fix.

    I don't know what affected the levels so much this time since I did a water change maybe 2 weeks ago. Usually the levels would remain about the same between water changes.

    It was the same Api test I've always used and it's not that old either. If the alk keeps dropping like this I might have to hook up the doser. It's just been sitting in my stand for the past year because the water changes were enough to keep levels stable.

    What's funny is that on my first tank 10 years ago my corals grew best. I used no sump, I had an hob filter, no skimmer and I used tap water. I literally had to trim corals back weekly, even the lps split so fast. It's so irratating to think about this too much.

    Don't use API for Alk - kit sucks. Use Salifert

    +1 on that - I have the Hanna Alk checker as well as Phosphate. But Salifert is 10 steps above API for Alk, API is completely worthless IMO
