I've heard great things about those. They are a little too expensive for my liking but i'll definitely get the phosphate one when the Black Friday sales come. I'm not sure if the alkalinity one is worth it or not.

I think it's worth it, but beyond those 2 don't bother.

I think I also may be overfeeding since I'm still getting algae on the sand even running the gfo. Given the fish I listed, how many cubes of frozen food would you guys feed? Right now I am feeding 3 cubes of home made food using a recipe from these forums and they are about the same size as the store bough frozen food cubes. I also add selcon and vitamins to the food and I am suspecting that these additives may be feeding the algae.

Yeah I would be feeding 1 or maybe 1.5 per day. Make the tangs clean up the algae.

Haha I feel bad for them sometimes, I guess i'm just a sucker for them. My fish devour three cubes in a few seconds and then they're back up top waiting for more. Especially those Anthias, man those are pigs.

So over the weekend I did a large water change, cleaned all my equipment and cleaned my sump from the 4 months of waste that has been collecting in there. I also added my filter socks to keep my sump clean for a much longer time. I also vacuumed my sand bed and got rid of the algae clumps on it.

I checked my levels today and they are:

    Nitrate- 1ppm
    Ph- 8
    Dkh- 8
    Calc- 500
    Mag- 1400

Things look a little better, the Duncan corals tentacles are longer then before but still nowhere near as long as when I first put it in. It has only been 3 days so I'm sure it will take a while to see any further changes. I'm also just feeding one cube of mysis per day and the algae issue seems like it's better already.

I added purigen to my sump and ordered the polyfilter so I'll put that in later this week. I'm also getting some new leds since I suspect that my diy build that I've been using for the past 3 years is missing something needed to sustain coral growth. Before I switched from compact fluorescent years ago, my mushroom coral spread very well. As soon as I added the leds, my mushrooms and some other coral slowly died off. The xenia on the other hand took over my tank. It's almost as if some coral pick what lighting they prefer.
