Was the flow restrictor a cartridge type? If so, it would have a three or four digit number on the side - what was it? If its a capillary type restrictor like my pic above, what color is the body of the restrictor?

If you'll PM us your email, I can email you a set of instructions. We've reworked so many of these ebay specials for people that we finally put together a written set of instructions! We can also email you instructions to sanitize the system.

You shouldn't be anywhere near $150.

Yes it was a cartridge type, number 800. Thanks for the help.

That's a flow restrictor of a 100 gpd membrane. So assuming they matched the membrane to the flow restrictor (not a safe bet for many of the ebay units), you probably have a 100 gpd membrane in your system.

Russ is correct, what you have is an ebay quality system. If it does have the 100 GPD membrane you will probably want to start over with a 75 GPD Dow Filmtec or 90 GPD Spectrapure membrane for better performance and longer DI life.
You would also be better off scrapping the horizontal DI tube on the top and converting one of the vertical canister to a real DI filter with a little plumbing and a refillable cartridge. Little horizontal DI tubes don't work very well due to channelling and short circuiting versus a vertical that fills from the bottom so all resin and water come into contact with each other, plus they hold 20 oz of resin instead of maybe 6-12 oz.

Russ suggested a pretty good replacement set of filters and I will throw in the Spectrapure CSPDI replacement pack which includes a 0.5 micron absolute rated sediment filter, a 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon carbon block and a filled 20 oz SilicaBuster refillable DI cartridge for $52. I would also suggest their 90 GPD Select series RO membrane with a matching capillary tube flow restrictor for another $44 and an inline pressure gauge kit for around $15.

Unfortunately as you can see, often buying a used RO or RO/DI system is not the deal you thought it was. I try really hard to discourage buying used systems unless you know the system and its history, otherwise think of it as buying used housings and fittings as everything else almost always needs replacing.

For $120, you can have the Spectrapure MPDI new and Russ has an excellent system with his 75 GPD Premium which includes everything menttioned plus a handheld TDS meter, thermometer and DI bypass valve too.
