I have found an used tank for sale on craigslist. It is a 90 gal glass. I would like to know what to look for. The posting says it has a bulkhead in the bottom at a corner, I am guessing this is normal for an internal overflow? I expect to inspect the tank for cracks and scratches all over, but what else should I look for?

Their asking price is almost too cheap to be true so it is throwing up some red flags. Thanks for the help.

If you are looking at having a reef ask if copper was used. If so don't buy the tank. You have the right idea with your inspection list, I would add looking the the silicone to see that it is in good shape.

I would also check if the overflow is leak proof. I purchased a 90g knowing that the overflow pipes were broken but did not know they were glued so I had to melt them off. I mean its no big deal but I would of rather not delt with it.

I would ask them to have it filled when you get there. That would eliminate any obvious problems with the glass/overflow. If they don't want to, make it clear that it's just as a leak test, and that you'll empty the tank yourself if it's a matter of the work required to get it done.
