Using brass valves. Is it safe?

    just one thing i would add... i used ball valves and are not as percise as gate valves if i redo the plumbing on my system i would replace all ball valves with gate valves.

    Exactly as Bunner said. I wanted gate valves for more control over flow. The ball valves I installed on my temporary improvised sump are so freaking hard to set to the desired flow that I have to be messing with them for more than 5 minutes to get them right... It's not the 5 minutes that I'm worried about, but the frustration of something that should work a certain way and it doesn't.

    I now have come to believe that ball valves are designed to either open completely or close completely. If you're trying to go somewhere in between, it's a pain in the rear.

    It may be that my valves have not been used enough (ie. softened enough).. but I'm sure I wouldn't have to wait with gate valves. You pay what you get for. And whenever I need to re-do my plumbing, gate valves is what I'll go... also probably I'll go with tubing instead of solid pvc pipes.
